Christmas week. It happens every year, yet it still seems to sneak up on us.
I do respect all people of faith and recognize not all who read this are of the Christian faith, though an attribute of servant leadership is to be open and respectful to all people of faith.
In my teen years, I decided to follow the Christian faith. So for me, Christmas is a special celebration and is very meaningful to me; even more so as I began to explore the concept of becoming a servant leader.
Imagine the God of the universe who desired to connect with the humans He created. Of all the ways and options He could have chosen, He came as a baby. It is so hard for me to grasp the humility, the humbleness in the character of God that He sent his son, Jesus, as a baby born in the lowliest of places—in a barn with animals. And his first bed was a manger or a trough that cows eat from. What?! You must be kidding me! You can’t make this up.
This model of humility humbles me daily, as a servant leader in development. It also emotionally moves me when I take the time to dwell on it every Christmas.
Enjoy the holiday season and have a merry Christmas.
Onward!
