Planning is a process and an effective tool for the servant leader. An executive recently asked if one plans right and follows the process, why does one need to be concerned about contingencies?
May I refer to a quote by Mike Tyson, a noted management/leadership guru…smile! In an interview, he said that everyone has a good, solid plan that they believe in until they get hit in the mouth. It is literally true in the boxing ring and figuratively true in business.
Every great plan needs contingencies or the planning process is not complete. Why? Because if you happen to get hit in the mouth and don’t have a contingency in place, you’re not helpful to others.
