I was informed today that the new 2017 car I will be leasing will not permit me to drive outside the lines of my lane. In fact, when necessary, it will accelerate, slow down, or stop for me, depending on what is happening in front the car. Who knows, maybe my wife will feel safe riding with me again!
Depending on the dominant trait of your temperament — most readers of the Midweek Mentor are familiar with DISC assessments — my previous statement might have created a variety of emotional responses such as “Cool!” “Stupid.” “Whatever, man.” “How fun!” “Dream on, John. It’ll never work.” “I have no idea what the previous statement said.” “What about the truckers?” “This makes no sense.” “This is a joke, right? Where is the punch line?” “What happens if it is snowing?” “Bring it on!” “That’s it. I am moving to the mountains.” “I’ll just walk from now on.” Or just “WHAT?!”
Your mindset is your next filter. Do you have a mixed mindset or do you have a growth mindset? Or perhaps you’re like me. It just depends. Do you have an owner or employee mindset? How about an abundance or scarcity mindset? Perhaps we think we have a growth, owner, and abundance mindset. I bet you for most of us it’s a future state and not a dominant current reality.
