“If you keep your fence painted, your manure doesn’t seem to smell so bad.”
Farm wisdom from the Big Valley in central Pennsylvania. My dad, John Sr., and I were meeting with several farmers who lease our farmland on Friday, when I heard that pearl of wisdom. This coming from the herdsman who has one of the largest dairy operations in central Pennsylvania and is directly across from a well-known retirement center. You can only imagine…
The more I thought about it, the more I realized how true it is in all business. Painting the fence takes a little time and costs a few bucks. On the other hand, the goodwill that is spread by taking care of the little things that are pleasing to others really helps when mistakes invariably happen.
What in your life or business would equate to painting a fence or two?
