What a great European vacation! Colleen and I spent over two weeks just seeing things we had only read or heard about, and now we have a completely new perspective and appreciation. Now that we are back, it seems as though we never left, and yet I am changed forever. First, thanks to Tom Mangan for filling in as your Midweek Mentor while we were traveling.
We spent four days in London, Paris, Rome, and Vienna, along with a stopover in Venice. Highlights were our day in Normandy, our visit to Pompeii, standing in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, and seeing the magnificent churches of Europe — St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in London, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in in Vienna. Then, of course, I treasured the time hanging out with Colleen in all the European cafés.
My summation would be I loved the history of Great Britain, the people in France, the food in Italy, and the clean and beautiful buildings and streets of Vienna.
Since returning, I have been asked about the people in France. The question is one of surprise in that we were not treated rudely. Of course, Dale Carnegie had the answer. Begin in a friendly way with a smile. “Bonjour!” It’s amazing how nice and helpful we found people across Europe, especially in Paris.
Drop me a line and let me know about your favorite vacation experience or where we should travel next.
Onward!
